In Prince George's County, an investigation has been launched as police attempt to determine who brought a gun into the Sonia Sotomayor Middle School in Adelphi on Friday.
Police say that at approximately 10:20 a.m., officers were advised that a loaded gun was found in the bathroom of the teacher's lounge, though it remains unclear who brought the gun or how long it was in the room before it was uncovered.
The school year doesn't officially start for students until Monday, but Friday was a "Student Orientation Day," according to officials.
No additional information was provided by the Prince George's Police Department on Friday afternoon.
